The author's world was turned upside down in June 1992 when his youngest son, Bradley, a star college athlete and honor student, was randomly chased down and brutally murdered by young hoodlums. To help overcome his grief, the author became active in The Compassionate Friends (a self-help group of parents who have lost children).
